When an employee works under the direct supervision of his or her relative, a violation of Section 25-4-105(1), Miss. Code of 1972, is virtually inevitable. Due to the potential for a violation of Section 25-4-105(1) and the public policy codified in Section 25-4-101, either the mayor or the financially independent sibling of the mayor serving as the municipal clerk should resign their position.
